Accusing the Telugu Desam government of being neck-deep in corruption, BJP Floor Leader in the Assembly P. Vishnu Kumar Raju on Wednesday said that his track record as an MLA would stand him in a good stead in the coming election.
Mr. Raju, who is contesting from Visakhapatnam North Assembly segment, will take on HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao (TDP), K.K. Raju of the YSRCP and Jana Sena Party (JSP) candidate Pasupuleti Ushakiran.
Claiming that the BJP had played an instrumental role in countering many corruptions in the district, the BJP leader said, “We were on the forefront to thwart the attempts of garbing land valued at ₹ 2,800 crore in Bhimunpatnamand at Mudapaka on the pretext of land pooling exercise.”
Land scam
Referring to the alleged land scam , he pointed out that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) report was yet to see the light. “It is deliberate attempt by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu not to make the report public as he knows that it would result in the fall of his government,” the MLA told the media here.
He also alleged irregularities in the allotment of 300 houses in the second phase to the victims of Cyclone Hudhud.
Listing out the Central assistance to Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Raju said the credit for Visakhapatnam getting the new railway zone must go to the BJP. “We had taken the issue of retaining the Waltair division in the new zone to the notice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his public meeting here. I have got phone calls from New Delhi with an assurance that it would be retained,” he said.
