General Manager presents Safety Award to 11 Staff of Central Railway
GM felicitates CR Woman engineer for outstanding work during extension and remodelling of CSMT station.
Shri Dharam Veer Meena, General Manager, Central Railway felicitated 11 Central Railway staff i.e. 4 from Mumbai Division, 3 from Pune Division, 2 from Solapur Division, 1 from Bhusaval Division and 1 from Nagpur Division with Safety Award in a function held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai o­n 04.03.2025.
In special recognition, the General Manager also felicitated Kum.Sakshi Gupta, Junior Engineer, Signal & Telecommunication (Construction), Kalyan, for her dedicated work and outstanding contribution during the work of platform extension and remodelling of CSMT Platform no 12/13 to accommodate 24 coach trains. She was awarded with medal, a commendation certificate and a cash prize.
The Safety awards were presented in recognition of the respective employee’s alertness during duty, their contribution in averting untoward incidents and ensuring safety in train operations during the previous months. Each award consists of a medal, commendation certificate, a citation of exemplary safety work and cash prize of ₹ 2000/-.

Details of the Awardees

Mumbai Division
1. Shri S Trinath Rao, Motorman, Panvel, Mumbai, while o­n duty o­n Thane-Panvel local o­n 30.01.2025, noticed a Divyangjan( physically challenged) person trying to climb o­nto platform no 2 of Panvel station, from the railway tracks . Shri Rao sounded the hooter to alert the person and immediately applied emergency brakes stopping the train at a safe distance. His alertness and presence of mind helped save a life and prevent an unfortunate incident.
2. Shri Ajaab Janglu Bante, Motorman, Kalyan, Mumbai, while o­n duty o­n Mulund-Thane local o­n 17.01.2025 noticed 3 to 4 iron rods lying o­n the railway tracks at Kms-31/312. He immediately applied emergency brakes and stopped the train at a safe distance. His alertness and presence of mind helped save a potential mishap and ensured the safety of all the commuters travelling in the train.
3. Shri Priyanshu, Junior Engineer(S&T), Dadar, Mumbai, while o­n duty o­n 28.01.2025, noticed a rail fracture at kms 9/213. He immediately informed all concerned thus helping avert a potential mishap due to his keen observation skills.
4. Smt. Roopali Kadam, Havaldar, GRP, Vadala Road Railway Police Station, Mumbai while o­n duty o­n 06.02.2025, at  Chunabhatti station, noticed that while deboarding from the train, a lady passenger’s garment got entangled with the bag of another lady standing in the train. The train started to move and the deboarded passenger was being dragged. Smt.Roopali quickly took action and saved the deboarded passenger from injury.Her quick thinking and presence of mind helped save a life and avert an untoward incident.
Pune Division
5. Shri Sudarshan Kumar, Loco Pilot (Goods), Miraj, Pune, was o­n duty o­n 31.01.2025 o­n Goods train. As soon as the train reached Nira station, he was given authority to cross the home signal in o­n position. As the train crossed the home signal, Shri Sudarshan Kumar noticed that the point for the concerned line had not been set. He immediately applied emergency brakes and stopped the train. The matter was put right and a potential mishap was averted due to his alertness.
6. Shri Satish Kumar Prajapati, Loco Pilot (Goods), Ghorpadi, Pune, was o­n duty o­n 09.02.2025 o­n Goods train. o­n the Miraj-Pune section, Shri Prajapati noticed that a level crossing gate was open for road traffic. He immediately applied emergency brakes and stopped the train and a potential mishap was averted due to his alertness.
7. Shri S R Pathare, Motorman, Pune, was o­n duty o­n 05.02.2025. As soon as the train reached Malavli station, he was given authority to cross the home signal in o­n position. As the train crossed the home signal, Shri Pathare noticed that the point for the concerned line had not been set. He immediately applied emergency brakes and stopped the train. The matter was put right and a potential mishap was averted due to his alertness.
Solapur Division
8. Shri Manish Raj, Deputy Station Manager, Martur, Solapur, o­n 14.01.2025, while o­n duty, noticed that the AC stabilizer of the Relay room had caught fire. He immediately put the fire out with the fire extinguisher and prevented an untoward incident from happening, saving loss of life and property.
9. Shri Kumar Aman Raj, Loco Pilot (Goods), Wadi, Solapur, while o­n duty o­n 16.01.2025 o­n Goods train noticed a tractor moving o­n the raised section near the railway track, losing its grip and falling o­n the railway track, He immediately applied emergency brakes and stopped the train and a potential mishap was averted due to his alertness.
Bhusaval Division
10. Shri Shyam Waghmare, Senior Section Engineer, PWI, Bhusaval, while o­n duty o­n 03.02.2025, noticed a hot axle and a damaged axle in the passing Jhelum Express. He immediately informed all concerned and thus averted a potential mishap.
Nagpur Division
11. Shri Vikash Kumar, Pointsman, Dipori, Nagpur, while o­n duty o­n 03.12.2024, during exchange of signals noticed a bolt missing from the axle of a Coach of Train no 12833 Ahmedabad-Howrah Express. He immediately informed all concerned and thus averted a potential mishap.
Congratulating the awardees and complimenting them for their alertness and dedication towards their duties, the General Manager said that such acts of alertness, bravery and dedication will motivate others to sincerely work towards the safety of passengers and avert loss of life, freight and railway property.
Shri Prateek Goswami, Additional General Manager, Shri Chandra Kishore Prasad, Principal Chief Safety Officer, Other Principal Head of Departments and Senior Officers of Central Railway were present o­n the occasion.
