Sowing Seeds of Change : Central Railway’s Mumbai Division HR Department Brings Nature to Every Desk

In a remarkable initiative to promote a sustainable and eco-friendly work environment, the Human Resources Department of Mumbai Division, Central Railway, has launched “Sowing Seeds of Change”. This innovative program, inaugurated by Shri Rajnish Kumar Goyal, Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai Division, aims to bring nature to every desk, enhancing employee well-being and creating a greener workspace. During the launch of this programme, 450 employees have been provided with these indoor plants to place at their working desk.

Under the initiative, small potted plants with air-purifying properties will be provided to all staff members. These plants, requiring minimal care, are expected to reduce stress, boost mood, and increase productivity, while also contributing to environmental conservation. The program aligns with Central Railway’s commitment to fostering both environmental sustainability and employee welfare.

With this significant initiative, Central Railway recognizes the importance of a healthy work environment, ‘Sowing Seeds of Change’ is a small step towards creating a more sustainable and employee-friendly workplace. We believe this initiative will not only benefit our staff but also contribute to a greener future.

Shri Manish Singh, Sr Divisional Personnel Officer, Mumbai Division said this idea was the brainchild of a dedicated staff member who recently completed 25 years of service and prefers to remain behind the curtains.

Selected Plants with their local names and Their Benefits:

Spider Plant (Chlorophytum comosum)

Marathi: कोब्राघास (Kobra Ghaas)

Benefits: It purifies air by removing harmful toxins like formaldehyde and xylene. It also improves humidity.

Golden Pothos

Marathi: मनीप्लांट (Money Plant)

Benefits: Excellent air purifier, particularly effective at removing indoor pollutants like benzene, formaldehyde, and carbon monoxide.

Gold Flame Sansevieria

Marathi: स्नेकप्लांट (Snake Plant) or सन्सेव्हीएरिया

Benefits: Known for filtering out toxins and providing oxygen even during the night, it’s great for improving indoor air quality.

Polyscias fruticosa

Marathi: आर्बोरिकोल

Benefits: Known for its air-purifying abilities, it enhances the aesthetic of indoor spaces and promotes mental well-being.

Syngonium Plant

Marathi: सिंगोनियम

Benefits: Air-purifying properties that improve the environment by removing volatile organic compounds.

Cryptanthus Bromeliad

Marathi: क्रिप्टांथसब्रोमेलीअड

Benefits: It adds aesthetic beauty and improves air quality by removing toxins.

Peperomia obtusifolia

Marathi: पेपरोमिया

Benefits: It helps in purifying the air by absorbing toxins and is easy to maintain, making it ideal for indoor environments.

This green initiative reflects the broader vision of Central Railway, making strides towards environmental responsibility and a healthier, happier workforce.

स्थायी और पर्यावरण के अनुकूल कार्य वातावरण को प्रोत्साहन देने के लिए उल्लेखनीय पहल में, मध्य रेल के मुंबई मंडल के मानव संसाधन विभाग ने “हर डेस्क पर प्रकृति” नामक एक अभिनव पहल का शुभारंभ किया है। मुंबई मंडल के मंडल रेल प्रबंधक श्री रजनीश कुमार गोयल द्वारा उद्घाटन किए गए इस अभिनव कार्यक्रम का उद्देश्य हर डेस्क पर प्रकृतिक छटा बिखेरना है, कर्मचारियों की भलाई को बढ़ाना और एक प्रकृति से भरा कार्यस्थल बनाना है। इस कार्यक्रम के शुभारंभ के दौरान, 450 कर्मचारियों को उनके कार्य डेस्क पर रखने के लिए ये इनडोर पौधे प्रदान किए गए हैं।

इस पहल के तहत, सभी कर्मचारियों को वायु-शोधक गुणों वाले छोटे गमले वाले पौधे प्रदान किए जाएंगे। इन पौधों को कम से कम देखभाल की आवश्यकता होती है, इनसे तनाव कम होने, मूड को बेहतर बनाने और उत्पादकता बढ़ाने के साथ-साथ पर्यावरण संरक्षण में भी योगदान मिलने की उम्मीद है। यह कार्यक्रम पर्यावरणीय स्थिरता और कर्मचारी कल्याण दोनों को बढ़ावा देने की मध्य रेल की प्रतिबद्धता को रेखांकित करता है।

इस महत्वपूर्ण पहल के साथ, मध्य रेल एक स्वस्थ कार्य वातावरण के महत्व देते हुए, ‘एक कदम प्रकृति की ओर‘ एक अधिक स्वस्थ और कर्मचारी-अनुकूल कार्यस्थल बनाने की दिशा में एक छोटा कदम है। हमारा मानना है कि यह पहल न केवल हमारे कर्मचारियों को लाभान्वित करेगी बल्कि एक हरित भविष्य में भी अपना योगदान देगी।

मुंबई मंडल के वरिष्ठ मंडल कार्मिक अधिकारी श्री मनीष सिंह ने कहा कि यह विचार हमारे एक समर्पित कर्मचारी के सकारात्मक सोच की उपज है, जिसने हाल ही में 25 वर्ष की सेवा पूरी की है और वह अपना नाम उजागर नहीं करना चाहते है।

स्थानीय नाम और उनके लाभ के साथ चयनित पौधे:

स्पाइडर प्लांट (क्लोरोफाइटम कोमोसम)

मराठी: कोबरा घास (कोबरा घास)

लाभ: यह फॉर्मेल्डिहाइड और ज़ाइलीन जैसे हानिकारक विषाक्त पदार्थों को हटाकर हवा को शुद्ध करता है। यह आर्द्रता में भी सुधार करता है।

गोल्डन पोथोस

मराठी: मनी प्लांट (मनी प्लांट)

लाभ: उत्कृष्ट वायु शोधक, विशेष रूप से बेंजीन, फॉर्मेल्डिहाइड और कार्बन मोनोऑक्साइड जैसे इनडोर प्रदूषकों को हटाने में प्रभावी।

गोल्ड फ्लेम सैन्सेवीरिया

मराठी: स्नेक प्लांट (स्नेक प्लांट) या सनसेवीरिया
