WESTERN RAILWAY’S MEDICAL DEPT. OF MUMBAI DIVISION OBSERVES WORLD POPULATION DAY

The World Population Day is observed annually o­n July 11 in order to raise awareness about the global population issues, including population control. Western Railway’s Medical Department of Mumbai Division observed the day with interactive sessions with beneficiaries and relatives, organized at various Health Units across the division.

According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the theme of the year 2023 is “Unleashing the power of gender equality: Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our world’s infinite possibilities”, which was highlighted in the awareness lectures & interactive sessions. The awareness lectures were conducted at Sub Divisional Hospital at Valsad and Health Units at Badhwar Park and Bandra. Interactive discussions were held with patients and relatives, Health Inspector and Paramedical staff o­n various population issues such as family planning, gender equality, poverty, maternal health and human rights. Key topics such as importance of family planning, methods of family planning and the problems arising due to over population were also discussed upon. Posters for World Population Day were also prepared and exhibited.
