WHAT IS SIMULATOR?

Simulator is a replica of a machine, based on computer technology. Train Driving Simulator consists of a real time loco driving cab, which facilitate the trainees to drive a train, which gives us real feeling of on line train working.

AC locomotive Simulator is a mathematical model of a train over a railway track with associated synchronized audio sound and recorded vision.

Train driving crews are supposed to drive a train in a closed dark room with the help of TPD (Train Performance Display) provided in the loco cab and vision on the 100 inches screen, which is provided in front of loco-cab. TPD provides symbolic representation of track profile, track features for road learning, without which train driving is just impossible for those who have not driven the train in that particular section. Also it displays in-train coupler forces while driving a train, in the form of a graph, so that Loco Pilots can see the repercussion of their every action instantaneously. Another graph on TPD gives information regarding braking & releasing action of the complete train.

TDS Loco Pilot cab provides a realistic AC locomotive environment. Its interactive controls provide a real-time control of the simulation and present the Loco Pilot with realistic visual and audio responses. The TDS instructorconsole provides the facilities for the Instructor to:

“Configure and control Simulations, Configure and generate reports, & Monitor and communicate with the Loco Pilot for improving his driving skill.”

This Loco Pilot Training Simulator is an excellent tool in imparting correct driving techniques to Loco Pilots without taking them on line. This not only saves training time, but training can also be qualitatively improved by incorporating various simulations during training like poor brake power of train, sudden change of signal aspect, foggy weather, night vision, obstruction on track, over speeding etc. Loco Pilot is also given the knowledge of coupler forces, reasons of load-parting & load stalling, negotiating steep gradients, energy conservation, good driving & braking technique for reduced brake wear etc. The cab working of Loco Pilot is watched by Instructor sitting at console, who also guides him. Instructor can create abnormal situations during drive and can watch Loco Pilot’s response. This facility helps in judging Loco Pilot’s reflex on various unusual situations.
